Nepali Congress MP Pratima Gautam Questions RSWP’s Signature Campaign Motive

MP Pratima Gautam criticizes RSWP’s signature campaign, questioning its true agenda and raising alarms about government readiness for the monsoon season impacting nearly two million people.

On Tuesday, Nepali Congress MP Pratima Gautam made some strong points in the House of Representatives. She said that people involved in crimes are now running signature campaigns to try and influence the courts in their favor. She called this a planned move.

She explained that even those accused of crimes like fraud and theft are collecting signatures to put pressure on the judiciary. Speaking to the Speaker, she said, “It’s no longer surprising that people involved in crimes like fraud and theft are trying to sway the respected courts through these signature campaigns.”

What’s Really Going On with RSWP’s Signature Campaign?

Gautam didn’t hold back in questioning the real reason behind the signature campaign started by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP). She asked, “Is the RSWP really working to serve the people, or is it just a way to collect money through networks?” Her remarks have stirred up fresh debate in political circles.

She also said that politics nowadays feels more like a show than serious work. “Politics has turned from being about principles to being about drama and acting. It’s known that some lawmakers are collecting signatures even from inside prisons and using QR codes to raise funds,” she said. She added that these kinds of actions hurt democracy and shake people’s trust.

Worries About Monsoon and Challenges for Farmers

On a different note, Gautam expressed serious concern about the government’s lack of preparation for the upcoming monsoon season, which could affect nearly two million people. She pointed out problems like shortages of fertilizer, poor quality seeds, and unstable markets that are making things harder for farmers.

Her comments are expected to keep the political discussion going in the days ahead.
