CPN-UML Introduces Test for Membership Renewal

The CPN-UML has made ideological testing mandatory for members seeking to renew their organized membership. Officials say the initiative aims to strengthen party discipline and ideological clarity.

Kathmandu — The CPN-UML has decided to implement a mandatory test for individuals seeking to renew their organized party membership. The decision was made during a meeting of the party’s Central Organization Department held on Monday.

According to Madhav Dhungel, Secretary of the department, party members will now be assessed on their understanding of the CPN-UML’s policies, ideology, and core principles before their membership can be renewed.

“We will first provide training,” Dhungel said. “After that, members will take a multiple-choice test where they must select the correct answers.” For now, the examination will be conducted in person. However, Dhungel added that online testing options will be introduced in the future.

The CPN-UML currently has approximately 550,000 organized members. Party officials stated that the goal of this new process is to ensure ideological clarity among members and to enhance the party’s organizational discipline.
