Rastriya Swatantra Party Postpones Extended Meeting to Third Week of Kartik

Rastriya Swatantra Party has rescheduled its extended meeting to the third week of Kartik, expanding participation and preparing for decisions on its upcoming national convention.

Kathmandu — The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has postponed its upcoming extended meeting, which was earlier scheduled for November 1 and 2 (Kartik 14 and 15). General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti said the party needed additional time to complete preparations. The decision was made during a virtual meeting of the RSP secretariat held on Saturday.

“We discussed ways to increase participation in the extended meeting,” Burlakoti said. “Since more time is required for coordination, the meeting will now be held in the third week of Kartik.”

Expanded Participation Planned

The meeting, initially planned for central committee members, advisory council representatives, departmental heads, and district presidents, will now also include constituency coordinators and local presidents from municipalities that have completed their conventions. With this expanded list, the total number of participants is expected to exceed 500, according to party officials.

Discussion on National Convention

The extended meeting will focus mainly on the upcoming national convention. The RSP had earlier set February 19–21 (Fagun 7–9) for its first convention. However, with national elections now scheduled for February 21, the meeting will decide whether to advance or postpone the convention.

“The main agenda remains the national convention,” Burlakoti noted. “Alongside that, we will discuss party organization and the current political context.” The rescheduled meeting is expected to finalize the party’s organizational roadmap and future strategy ahead of the election period.
