Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist–Leninist) [UML] Secretary and Member of Parliament Yogesh Bhattarai has said there is no factionalism or division within the party. Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Chautari in Taplejung on Sunday, he stated that under the leadership of party chair KP Sharma Oli, UML is moving forward in unity.
Bhattarai explained that, given the political circumstances and national necessity, UML and the Nepali Congress formed a coalition government. He expressed confidence that the current government will remain in place until the next general election.
According to him, “Last year, the government was formed under UML leadership because of an exceptional political situation. Since then, the government has strengthened economic stability and consolidated international relations.”
During the press meet, Bhattarai also presented his views on constitutional amendment. He proposed reducing the number of local levels while increasing the number of wards. He further suggested that the Vice President should take on the role of Chair of the National Assembly and that the number of constitutional commissions should be reduced.
Economic Progress and Development Projects
Bhattarai claimed that since the formation of the present government, Nepal’s economy has been moving in a positive direction. He said the government has encouraged the private sector and taken steps to create an investment-friendly environment. “Several economic acts have been amended, some new ones have been introduced, and laws discouraging foreign investment have been revised,” he added.
Highlighting development initiatives in Taplejung, Bhattarai stressed that ongoing and upcoming large-scale projects should not face obstruction from any side. He emphasized that development should not be halted for political reasons.
