Lalitpur, – Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairperson of the CPN (Maoist Centre), has called on the party’s youth wing, the Young Communist League (YCL), to remain vigilant and prepared for possible political protests.
Speaking at the launch of the “YCL Campaign for Labour and Production” in Lalitpur on Thursday, Prachanda expressed concern over rising corruption and a government that, according to him, is drifting away from public expectations. He warned that public resistance through street protests may become necessary.
“Despite all precautions, if the government continues to be involved in corruption and moves further against public will, the time may soon come when we’ll have to resist it from the streets,” said Prachanda. “I call on everyone to be fully prepared for that.”
Prachanda emphasized that the YCL’s labour campaign is a continuation of the Maoist Centre’s broader strategy to promote production-based national development through the “Production Brigade” initiative.
“Following the unanimous formation of the party’s central committee, in our very first leadership meeting, I had directed that both the party and YCL must take the lead in labour and national economic reconstruction,” he said. “Accordingly, this campaign is being expanded across the country. It is deeply rooted in the ideological and practical dimensions of the Maoist movement.”
Youth Urged to Lead Anti-Corruption Drive and Economic Transformation
Addressing the youth activists, Prachanda stressed the importance of an organized, responsible youth force to combat corruption and lead social transformation. “In the current situation, where the nation is increasingly burdened by irregularities and a lack of transparency, we need youth who can confront reality and lead change,” he said.
According to Prachanda, this YCL campaign is not only political but reflects the party’s commitment to social progress through practical engagement. “We believe in actions, not just slogans,” he concluded. “Labour, production, and dedication—these are the pillars on which a new Nepal can be built.”
