Kathmandu — The Rastriya Mukta Party Nepal has voiced strong concern over the direction and performance of the interim government formed after the GenZ uprising. At the party’s Central Committee meeting held on Saturday, Chairperson Rajendra Mahato presented a political report stating that Prime Minister Sushila Karki’s administration has yet to act in line with the spirit of the revolution and the expectations of the people.
Mahato said, “The period after a revolution or people’s movement is not meant for a simple change of power — it is meant for a complete transformation of the nation’s structure. Unfortunately, the current government has not shown the seriousness needed to fulfill that responsibility.”
He explained that the gains of the uprising have not yet been institutionalized due to the absence of an interim constitution and unified leadership. “The government’s main duty is to address Nepal’s deep constitutional, economic, and cultural crises, yet it seems more focused on routine administrative transfers,” Mahato added.
Although he clarified that the Karki-led government cannot be called unconstitutional, Mahato said that the lack of transparency, fairness, and accountability has weakened public trust. He emphasized that the interim administration carries a historic responsibility to honor the people’s mandate through transparent, impartial, and inclusive governance.
The report pointed out that the state faces dual pressures — reconstruction and preparations for an emergency general election. Mahato urged the government to work with political parties to ensure the successful completion of the House of Representatives election on March 4 (Falgun 21), calling it the first step in institutionalizing the revolution.
In conclusion, the Rastriya Mukta Party reaffirmed its goal of ending corruption and building a fair, transparent, and prosperous Nepal through collective political will. “This interim government is the beginning of correcting past mistakes and laying the foundation for a new Nepal. Now is the time for responsible leadership,” the party said.
