Kathmandu — The Janamat Party, led by Dr. CK Raut, has stepped up its organizational and voter registration campaign ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for February 21.
According to party Vice Chairperson Narendra Chaudhary, a recent virtual meeting of the Central Committee decided to make election preparations the party’s top priority by launching a nationwide campaign aimed at engaging the Gen Z generation. As part of this plan, the party will mobilize teams across rural areas to encourage eligible young citizens to register their names on the voter list.
“We want to bring the Gen Z generation into the democratic process,” Chaudhary said. “Our first goal is to ensure that as many young people as possible are registered as voters.”
Help Desks and Booth Committees Planned
The party also plans to set up help desks at various offices of the Election Commission, operated by Gen Z members of the Janamat Party, to assist citizens during voter registration. In addition, youth volunteers will run awareness programs in local communities to educate new voters about the importance of participating in the election.
The Janamat Party has also decided to form separate Gen Z Booth Committees at each polling station, made up of young members who will take responsibility for voter mobilization, coordination, and campaigning.
Recently, Dr. Raut met with CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli to discuss possible cooperation in forming a provincial government in Madhesh Province. Party sources said the talks focused on supporting the Nepali Congress and UML in the process of government formation. The Janamat Party had previously led the provincial government itself, but new political dynamics appear to have shifted alliances.
Meanwhile, the party’s youth wing is preparing to expand the campaign under the banner of Gen Z Janamat Sangh, with the goal of making the youth vote a decisive factor in the upcoming elections.
