Finance Minister Vishnu Prasad Paudel said the government plans to build a modern, world-class exhibition hall at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu within the next three years. He shared this during the opening of the ‘NAIMA Nepal Mobility Expo 2025’ organized by the Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) on Wednesday.
Paudel admitted that private groups face a lot of trouble when they try to organize exhibitions. “Organizers really struggle just to put on an event,” he said. To fix this, the government is prioritizing building a new exhibition center at Bhrikutimandap and has already set aside money for it in this year’s budget.
Work has already started, and the minister said they hope to finish in two years if possible, but definitely within three. This new hall will help raise the quality of exhibitions and international events in Nepal.
He also said the government is focusing a lot on building good roads. This is important for the automobile industry. He mentioned upgrading the East-West Highway to an expressway and speeding up construction on the Hulaki, Mid-Hill, and Madan Bhandari Highways.
The minister promised the private sector that the government is serious about keeping policies steady. “We know how hard it is when policies keep changing. That’s why this budget focuses on stability,” he said.
He praised NAIMA for putting together important exhibitions quickly and asked private businesses to stay involved in planning and carrying out the budget. Paudel is confident the new exhibition hall will open up more chances for Nepali businesses to grow.
