Sudan Gurung Challenges Home Minister Aryal: Youth Are Awake, Stop Ignoring the Nation’s Voice

Gen-Z leader Sudan Gurung has challenged Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal to deliver justice and respond to corruption, warning that Nepal’s young generation will not stay silent any longer.

Sudan Gurung, founder of the Hami Nepal campaign and a prominent figure in the Gen-Z movement, has sharply criticized Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, accusing him of being “unpopular and inactive.” Gurung expressed his frustration through a social media post, claiming that the minister has failed to live up to public expectations.

Gurung Questions Minister’s Silence and Government’s Inaction

According to Gurung, while people across the country are demanding justice against murderers and corrupt officials, the Home Minister’s silence has been deeply disappointing.
“When the nation cries for justice, the Home Minister only seems to hear calls to punish the Gen-Z movement. Remaining in that position under such circumstances is an insult to the nation,” Gurung wrote.

He further alleged that despite holding office for nearly two months, Minister Aryal has not taken action against any major criminal or corrupt figure. “We were promised transformation, but nothing has changed in practice,” Gurung said.

Gurung also claimed that he and other youth activists were defamed through misleading news reports but remained silent for the sake of the nation’s interest. “I stayed quiet because I believed that actions would speak louder than words. But now, hope is fading,” he said.

Warning to the Government and Final Message to the Minister

Turning his attention to the upcoming elections, Gurung issued a warning: “We rose to end corruption and secure the nation’s future. But this movement was never about postponing the 2084 election to 2082. If the demands of the people and the Gen-Z movement are not addressed, the elections will not be allowed to happen.”

Gurung directly cautioned Minister Aryal, saying, “If you still plan to cling to your seat, our upcoming press conference in two days will decide your political future.”

He concluded with a strong message: “If you think you can survive as the Prime Minister’s favorite, that’s your illusion. The people and the youth have already awakened. Do the work you were appointed to do—otherwise, history will not forgive you.”
