Kathmandu — The CPN (Unified Socialist) will celebrate its fourth anniversary on august 25 with programs taking place across the country. The party has directed its district committees, as well as people’s organizations abroad, to actively join the celebrations.
Damodar Aryal, Deputy Head of the Central Publicity Department, said the day will be marked with sanitation drives, tree plantation, blood donation, public interactions, release of commemorative booklets, and exchange of greetings. Committees at every level have been instructed to organize programs that connect directly with the public.
The party’s central office has also invited leaders from other political parties to the main event in Kathmandu. A symposium titled “Current State, Challenges, and Future Direction of the Nepali Communist Movement” will be held to mark the occasion. Party Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal will present a paper outlining Nepal’s contribution to strengthening the global communist movement.
Senior leaders will also review left-wing polarization, ideological divisions, the country’s current political situation, and the role of communist parties. Nepal’s communist movement began in 1949 (2006 BS) with the founding of the Nepal Communist Party in Kolkata, India. Over the years, repeated splits have left the movement divided into several groups.
The CPN (Unified Socialist) was formed on august 25, 2021 (Bhadra 9, 2078 BS) after breaking away from the CPN-UML over ideological differences. The party says its goal is to reorganize Nepal’s communist movement and chart a renewed ideological course.
