Separate Software for Cooperative Registration to Launch in October

The National Cooperative Regulatory Authority is set to begin online cooperative registration through a new software system from October, aiming to streamline regulation and record-keeping.

Kathmandu — The National Cooperative Regulatory Authority is set to introduce a dedicated software system to handle cooperative registrations through an online platform. According to the authority, the new process will officially begin in October.

Executive Director Dr. Shesh Narayan Paudel explained that the software has been developed to streamline the registration, regulation, supervision, monitoring, and reporting of savings and credit cooperatives. Under the new arrangement, any cooperative seeking registration must submit required details electronically within 60 days. After verification, the certificate of registration will be issued digitally.

Paudel further noted that new regulatory standards for savings and credit-based cooperatives have already come into effect and are currently being implemented. Directives for holding general assemblies and record-keeping standards have also been issued.

He emphasized that the authority will continue to introduce reforms aimed at ensuring transparency in the cooperative sector and strengthening oversight mechanisms in the days ahead.
