The CPN-UML district committee in Nuwakot is facing pushback after deciding to charge Rs 10,000 from party members who want to file their candidacy for national convention delegate positions. The fee was approved during the district committee meeting held on Mangsir 6.
The UML is preparing to select its convention delegates nationwide on Mangsir 13. From more than 600,000 party members, only around 1,000 delegates will be chosen for the upcoming national convention.
Election Schedule Made Public
The Nuwakot district committee has issued internal directives and made its election schedule public. ,The voter list was published today at 11 a.m. ,Claim-and-objection submissions will take place tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ,The final voter list will be released tomorrow at 4 p.m. ,A meeting of the representative assembly on Mangsir 10 will first try to reach a consensus. If that fails, elections will be held.
Equal Delegate Seats in Both Constituencies
Both constituencies in Nuwakot will elect the same number of delegates. Each will select: Youth: 1, Women: 2 ,Open category: 4 A total of 7 delegates will be elected from each constituency.
Dalit Cluster Gets Only One Delegate Seat
The district will have just one delegate representing the Dalit cluster. Some party members have expressed dissatisfaction, saying the Rs 10,000 fee is too high and goes against the party’s internal guidelines. The UML’s 11th National Convention is scheduled for Mangsir 27 to 29 in Kathmandu.
