UML Caps Nomination Fees at Rs 1,000 and Orders Mandatory Publication of Final Voter Lists

The CPN-UML Central Organization Department has restricted convention delegate nomination fees to a maximum of Rs 1,000 and directed all districts to publish final voter lists before election procedures. The party emphasized consensus-building and set deadlines for resolving delegate selection.

The Central Organization Department of the CPN-UML has issued a directive after several districts were found imposing arbitrary fees for convention delegate nominations. The department intervened and set a clear ceiling following reports that some districts had begun charging excessively high amounts.

Concerns escalated after Nuwakot and other districts reportedly sought up to Rs 10,000 from individuals seeking to register their candidacy for convention delegate positions. The Organization Department said such practices contradict the party’s central policy and instructed all units to enforce an immediate cap of Rs 1,000.

A virtual meeting held on Monday night decided that, before entering the election process, each electoral constituency must publish the final voter list in accordance with the central circular. The meeting also directed local party structures to immediately submit the total number of voters included in the final list to the Organization Department.

The department emphasized that consensus remains the first priority for selecting convention delegates. It instructed party units to make every effort to reach a consensus by the evening of Mangsir 12. If consensus cannot be achieved, voting must be conducted by Mangsir 13 to finalize the delegates.

Organization Department Chief Kashi Nath Adhikari said leaders assigned to election management and facilitation have been instructed to remain active and fulfill their responsibilities on time.
