Donald Trump Begins Construction on $250 Million White House Ballroom Near East Wing

Donald Trump has launched construction on a new $250 million ballroom near the White House’s East Wing, calling it a modern tribute to American elegance and history.

Washington, D.C. — Construction has officially begun at the White House as U.S. President Donald Trump advances his long-planned project to add a new ballroom to the historic residence. The facility, described as “a modern masterpiece,” is being developed near the East Wing, where demolition work started earlier this week.

On Monday, construction crews removed portions of windows and an enclosed gate from the eastern side of the building. According to Trump, the new ballroom will represent both grandeur and respect for the original architecture. He emphasized that it will be adjacent to the main White House structure, not directly attached, preserving the historic integrity of the presidential residence.

Trump announced the project’s launch on his social media platform, Truth Social, saying construction had officially started on what he called a “long-overdue dream.” Estimated to cost about $250 million, the ballroom is intended for large state receptions, formal events, and diplomatic gatherings.

“Presidents for more than a century have imagined a true ballroom at the White House — a place worthy of great national celebrations,” Trump wrote. “Now, it’s finally happening.”The  president had first hinted at the plan in July, calling it a tribute to “American elegance and history.” Once completed, the new ballroom is expected to become one of the most significant additions to the White House complex in over 150 years.
