Five Arrested for Brutal Murder of Girl in Sindhupalchok

Police in Sindhupalchok, Nepal, have arrested five men in connection with the rape and murder of a young girl. The incident has sparked public outrage, prompting a high-level investigation involving forensic evidence, eyewitness accounts, and support from specialized police units.

SINDHUPALCHOK,  — Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the brutal murder of a young girl in the Chyangdi area of Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-5, Sindhupalchok. The incident has left the local community in deep shock.

On June 25 (Asar 11), the girl’s body was discovered in a field near her home. The District Police Office immediately launched an intensive investigation into the case. According to police, initial investigations confirmed that the girl was sexually assaulted before being killed. Based on this evidence, five suspects were taken into custody.

They have been identified as Nima Tenzing Tamang (21), Wangnima Tamang (22), Namgyal Sherpa (32), Dawa Tamang (20), and Lakpa Pasang Tamang (22), all residents of the same village. Due to the severity of the crime, a special team led by District Police Chief SP Rameshwar Karki was deployed.

A trained sniffer dog was also brought in from Kathmandu to assist in the investigation. The suspects were identified through close analysis of the crime scene, eyewitness testimonies, and forensic evidence.

Police also reported collecting crucial evidence from the homes of the arrested individuals. They are currently in custody under a seven-day remand granted by the District Court, as the investigation continues.

The incident has triggered widespread grief and outrage among local residents. The inhumane act committed against an innocent child has raised serious concerns about social awareness and the strength of the justice system.

Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing, and efforts are underway to identify any additional individuals who may be linked to the case.
