Rasuwa Flood Rescue Underway: Security Forces Search for Missing Persons Amid Landslide Cleanup

Following severe floods in Rasuwa, Nepal, security forces have launched urgent rescue efforts to locate missing persons while clearing landslides that have blocked key roads. Over 20 people remain unaccounted for, including Nepal Police personnel and foreign nationals.

Rasuwa,— A devastating flood in Rasuwa has severely disrupted daily life, prompting security forces to intensify their search for missing persons. Since Wednesday morning, a team from the Nepali Army’s Shrinath Battalion has been actively engaged in rescue operations in the affected areas to locate those unaccounted for. Alongside the army, units from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police are also actively participating in the search efforts.

Landslides along the Timure road section have blocked transportation routes, but the army team remains focused on clearing landslides around Gosaikunda-5, Chilime Hydropower, and Rongapul areas. Early Tuesday morning, around 3 a.m., a flood near Rasuwagadhi resulted in over 20 people going missing. Among them are three Nepal Police personnel, six Chinese nationals, and several customs staff and drivers.

The body of Assistant Inspector Lal Bahadur Shrestha of the Nepal Police was found on the banks of the Trishuli River in Bharatpur Metropolitan City-29. So far, nine bodies and some body parts have been recovered, although many remain unidentified. Meanwhile, the flood destroyed the Miteree Bridge connecting Nepal to China and caused significant damage to the customs yard, where 64 vehicles were swept away by the waters.

This natural disaster has put local residents and workers in the affected area at great risk. Security forces continue their relentless efforts to rescue those stranded, while officials emphasize the urgent need for comprehensive assistance to support recovery and rehabilitation in the region.
