Kathmandu — The Central Committee of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) will hold its meeting on Friday at 1 p.m. at the party’s central office. Party spokesperson Manish Jha said 13 agenda items have been set for discussion.
The meeting will begin with a review of the current political situation and the party’s ongoing activities. It will go over progress reports from the central departments, updates from the parliamentary party meeting in Rupandehi, preparations for the upcoming by-election in the district, and the state of the party’s local organization. A report on irregularities found during the cooling-off period will also be discussed.
Provincial in-charges will present their strategies and progress reports, each within a three-minute limit. Central members will be given up to two minutes for their updates. The agenda also includes approving previous Secretariat decisions, endorsing revisions to the party’s statute interpretations, and appointing new heads of central departments.
One proposal calls for reinstating former central members who have been less active. Party sources said this includes discussions on whether to reassign responsibilities to two members, including Rakesh Yadav.
Other agenda points cover nominations to the Election Commission, forming strategic groups, and giving additional responsibilities to strengthen central and departmental structures. The party’s push for voting rights for Nepali citizens living abroad will also be discussed, along with plans to draw the government’s attention to the issue.
The committee will review the progress of a public signature campaign launched in response to what the party calls “political retaliation” against party president Rabi Lamichhane and will look at ways to make the campaign more effective.
Under miscellaneous proposals, members will discuss the selection of convention representatives, the recommendation of a deputy general secretary for Madhesh Province, presentation of the estimated budget for the central office, and matters related to MPs’ levies.
