KATHMANDU — Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Convener Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has claimed that several leaders from the CPN-UML are preparing to join his party, saying the balance of power within Nepal’s left politics is changing.
After signing an agreement with Bhim Rawal’s Matri Bhumi Jagaran Abhiyan in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Dahal said recent unification efforts have strengthened the NCP’s position as the principal leftist force in the country.
“Dozens of groups have already come together under our leadership,” Dahal said. “UML Chair KP Oli keeps making empty statements, but eventually, everyone from his side will come here.” He criticized Oli for making what he described as baseless remarks and argued that discontent within UML ranks is driving leaders toward the new communist alliance.
On November 5 (Kartik 19), the CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), and several other political groups formally merged to establish the new Nepal Communist Party. The alliance aims to promote political stability and strengthen the socialist movement in Nepal.
