Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is set to depart for Avaza, Turkmenistan, on Sunday, leading the Nepali delegation to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
The high-level conference, scheduled from August 5 to 8, 2025 (Saun 20 to 23 in the Nepali calendar), is being held at the joint invitation of Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedow and United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, according to Nepal’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
As Chair of the Global Coordination Bureau of Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the conference. He will also co-chair one of the high-level roundtable sessions and take part in various other official events during the summit, the ministry confirmed.
During the visit, Prime Minister Oli is expected to hold bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from other countries, as well as with senior officials from the United Nations and other international organizations.
The Prime Minister will be accompanied by his spouse, Radhika Shakya; Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal; Federal Parliament Member Suryabahadur Thapa Chhetri; and other senior government officials.
Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to return to Nepal on August 8, 2025 (Saun 23), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.
