Kathmandu — Acting Prime Minister and Urban Development Minister Prakash Man Singh has promised that the construction of the new federal parliament building at Singha Durbar will be finished on time. Speaking at a meeting on Friday, he updated the Parliamentary Monitoring Committee about the progress and the ministry’s plans to keep the project moving smoothly.
He was very clear: contractors who don’t meet deadlines won’t get any breaks. “No more delays will be accepted,” he said firmly. The work is going ahead according to a solid schedule and is being closely watched by the ministry and other departments to avoid any slowdowns.
When asked about past delays, Singh acknowledged the issues but stressed that things are different now. “We all know there were delays before. But this time, the ministry is serious about making sure it doesn’t happen again,” he said. He also pointed to recent fines given to contractors at the Kirtipur Cricket Stadium to encourage faster work.
Singh added that engineers, project leaders, and directors have all been told to make sure the building is ready on time. Ministry Secretary Gopal Sigdel confirmed the work is on track and expected to be completed by mid-January.
Singh sounded confident that the next parliamentary session will be held in the new building, showing the government’s commitment to meeting the deadline. “Just like at the cricket stadium, the parliament building project is under tight supervision,” he said.
The government is learning from past mistakes and is determined to finish the new parliament building on time — no more delays.
