Lalitpur — CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal, widely known as Prachanda, has claimed that a powerful group of brokers and middlemen conspired to bring down his government. Speaking with journalists in Lalitpur on Friday, the former prime minister said his administration was removed because it dared to take a firm stand against corruption.
Prachanda said that during his 18 months in office, he tried to promote transparency and good governance, which rattled those benefiting from long-established power networks. “I saw how the broker class still controls our national affairs. It was that same network that worked to unseat my government,” he told reporters.
Gen-Z Movement and Political Turmoil
He linked the recent Gen-Z Movement to the country’s growing political instability and what he described as unethical power games. “When governments are formed against the spirit of the constitution and democracy, the nation is pushed into crisis. The youth movement is a direct reaction to that,” Prachanda said.
According to him, the protests were not just a burst of frustration among young people but also a rejection of long-standing irregularities in politics and governance. He urged all political parties to take the discontent seriously and reflect on their own actions.
Appeal for National Unity
Wrapping up his remarks, the Maoist leader called for a broad national consensus to steer Nepal out of the current crisis. “We must move beyond party interests and genuinely listen to the voices of young people and the wider public,” he emphasized.
Prachanda said only a shared commitment to political stability, good governance, and honesty in leadership can restore people’s faith in the country’s political system.
