Postal Agreements with Labor-Agreement Countries Essential: Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung

Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung emphasized in Kathmandu that Nepal needs postal agreements with labor-agreement countries to strengthen trust and expand services for citizens abroad.

Kathmandu — Minister for Communication and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has emphasized the need to establish postal service agreements with all countries that have signed labor agreements with Nepal.

Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Minister Gurung said it has become essential to expand postal services in order to strengthen trust and effectiveness in Nepal’s postal system. He stressed that such agreements are necessary with countries where Nepali citizens are residing.

According to him, confidence in the institution can only grow if postal services are expanded to all countries where Nepalis live. He stated, *“There must be mandatory arrangements for postal services in all countries with which Nepal has labor agreements.

Wherever the Nepali diaspora is, postal services must be ensured. Only then will postal operations be meaningful. Doing so will also enhance trust and effectiveness in postal services. Another important step is to establish agreements with all countries where Nepali citizens live. If this is achieved, we will be able to develop the postal system into a strong institution.”*

The minister also assured that he would coordinate with the Ministry of Finance to address the outstanding liabilities that the Postal Services Department is required to settle.
