Kathmandu — Prime Minister Sushila Karki has announced a comprehensive 14-point action plan aimed at strengthening good governance, transparency, and effective public service delivery across all ministries.
During a high-level meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar on Monday, she instructed ministers and secretaries to prepare concrete blueprints to deliver visible improvements that citizens can directly experience.
Prime Minister Karki said, “The people’s movement of September 8 and 9 clearly reflected the public’s aspirations. It is now the government’s responsibility to respond through concrete actions.” She directed all ministries to develop and implement measurable plans to ensure that the government’s performance aligns with citizens’ expectations.
Focus on Governance and Fiscal Discipline
Emphasizing financial accountability, the Prime Minister instructed ministries to strictly follow the Ministry of Finance’s circular on maintaining austerity and ensuring results-oriented use of public funds. She also called for greater dialogue and collaboration with the private sector to foster an investment-friendly and industrial environment.
“The government must take proactive steps to boost the morale of the private sector,” Karki stated. “Without an encouraging atmosphere for industries, sustainable economic growth will remain out of reach.”
The Prime Minister stressed the need for transparent and fair systems in employee transfers and promotions, stronger anti-corruption measures, and renewed public trust in state institutions. She also directed immediate assessment reports on infrastructures damaged during recent protests and urged ministries to ensure uninterrupted public services through timely reconstruction or alternative arrangements.
Time to Restore Public Trust
Other key points in her 14-point directive include expediting election preparedness, enhancing coordination among federal, provincial, and local governments, enforcing law and order to curb criminal activities, and streamlining public administration by eliminating unnecessary structures.
Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Karki said, “This is not the time for slogans but for results. Every ministry must work with determination to rebuild citizens’ trust in the government.”
Her 14-point action plan is being seen as a decisive step toward reinforcing accountability, integrity, and efficiency in Nepal’s governance system.
