Banks have raised the loan limit against personal share collateral to NPR 25 Crore Dr. Vishwanath Paudel, Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, officially announced this new provision in the monetary policy for the fiscal year 2082/83. Previously, the loan limit was capped at NPR 15 Crore.
Share investors had long requested an increase in the loan limit, and their demand has now been fulfilled. This change is expected to boost investment in Nepal’s stock market. With the higher loan limit available to individual investors, access to share-backed loans will expand, encouraging greater enthusiasm for investment.
The loan limit for institutional investors had already been removed earlier. Now, with improved facilities for individual investors, new opportunities are likely to open in the capital market. This move is expected to promote long-term investment in the stock market and contribute positively to economic growth.
