Six parliamentary committees in Nepal are meeting today in Kathmandu to discuss key national issues, including tax policy, infrastructure projects, police law amendments, the Customs Bill, and federal oversight.

A total of six parliamentary committees are scheduled to meet today at the Federal Parliament Building, with discussions covering economic policy, legal reforms, infrastructure development, and governance.

The Finance Committee, meeting at 11:00 AM, will review a petition submitted by the Nepal Ayurvedic Medicine Producers Association regarding the proposed value-added tax (VAT) on Ayurvedic medicines under the Finance Bill. The committee will also hold discussions on the proposed tax structures and rates introduced in the ongoing bill.

At the same time, the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee will conduct a theoretical discussion on a bill aimed at amending existing laws related to the Nepal Police.

Two other meetings are set for 1:00 PM. The Infrastructure Development Committee will review the progress of the Sunkoshi–Marin Diversion Project, while the Legislation Management Committee will hold a theoretical discussion on the newly introduced Customs Bill, 2080.

Earlier, at 11:15 AM, the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee will meet to review findings from field visits conducted in Bagmati Province, including Dolakha District, focused on monitoring local-level policy implementation.

Also at 11:00 AM, the Committee on Strengthening Federalism and National Concerns will discuss its recent field monitoring visits and review a draft report based on the site inspections.

Today’s series of meetings marks a highly active day in parliament, with multiple policy and legislative priorities being addressed simultaneously. These committee sessions are expected to enhance the legislative process and contribute to more effective governance.
