Oli Accuses Government of Disrupting Peaceful UML Event in Bara, Alleging Airport Obstruction

CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has alleged that the government and several political groups deliberately intervened in a peaceful event in Bara. Addressing a mass assembly in Kathmandu, he said UML leaders faced obstruction at Simara Airport and accused authorities of misreporting the incident.

CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has accused the government and several political groups of attempting to disrupt a peaceful gathering organized by the party-affiliated Youth Association in Bara. Speaking at a mass assembly organized by the party’s Bagmati Province Committee in Kathmandu on Saturday, Oli said the incident in Bara was intentionally created to target UML leaders.

Obstruction at Simara Airport and Involvement of Other Parties

Oli said UML’s central leaders were scheduled to travel to Bara when tensions escalated. Once the plan became public, a group allegedly attempted to create unrest at Simara Airport.
“Our team was heading to Bara for a peaceful event.

But an obstruction was created at the airport. Such interference is unacceptable,” Oli said. He further alleged that cadres from several parties, including the Maoist Centre, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Rastriya Swatantra Party, were involved in the confrontation, calling it a “pre-planned move.”

Oli also accused the security administration of failing to provide accurate information to higher authorities. “After the police claimed nothing had happened against UML, the SP was recalled to headquarters. What does that show? The government is trying to fuel instability,” he said.

Warning to the Government and Criticism of Legitimacy

Oli warned the government against provoking his party. “Do not attempt to agitate or provoke UML. Trying to push democracy beyond its limits will have consequences. Moving further in this direction will not benefit anyone,” he stated.

Oli said the current government was formed through unconstitutional means and therefore lacked the authority to announce elections. “Who are you to announce elections? Who gave you that right?” he asked.

Oli Dismisses Government Consultation Claim

Oli dismissed the government’s claim that it consulted 125 individuals as part of a nationwide dialogue initiative. “Calling it consultation is theatrics. Instead of playing drama, the government should focus on creating a conducive political environment,” he said.
