Two Nepali Students Killed in Car Crash on Louisiana Highway 80

A fatal car accident on Louisiana’s Highway 80 claimed the lives of two Nepali students from Louisiana Tech University. The crash occurred during heavy rainfall, with two others seriously injured.

A tragic road accident in the U.S. state of Louisiana has claimed the lives of two Nepali students. The fatal crash occurred around 9 p.m. on Sunday along Highway 80 in Louisiana. According to reports, the deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Rajan Yadav and 20-year-old Rozin Oli. Both were Nepali nationals and students at Louisiana Tech University.

Preliminary investigations by the Louisiana State Police revealed that Rajan Yadav was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident. The crash occurred during adverse weather conditions, with heavy rainfall contributing to poor visibility and slippery roads. The vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree. Shortly after impact, the car caught fire. Both Yadav and Oli died at the scene, police confirmed.

University and Community Mourn the Loss

Two other individuals were also in the vehicle. They sustained serious injuries and were rescued and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their identities have not been released. Authorities stated that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.

The accident has deeply impacted the Nepali community in Louisiana, as well as the university community. In an official statement, Louisiana Tech University expressed deep sorrow over the untimely deaths of the students. “We are heartbroken by the loss of two of our international students in a tragic car accident,” the university noted.

“The entire Louisiana Tech family mourns this loss and extends its deepest condolences to the grieving families. Two additional students remain hospitalized with serious injuries and are currently under medical care.”
