Senior Nepali Congress Leaders Meet at Singh’s Residence to Discuss Party Unity and Political Developments

Senior Nepali Congress leaders met at Prakash Man Singh’s residence in Kathmandu to address party unity, internal disputes, and the country’s shifting political situation.

Kathmandu – Senior leaders of the Nepali Congress gathered on Sunday at the Chaksibari residence of former General Secretary Prakash Man Singh to review the party’s changing political situation.

Those present included former Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi, former General Secretaries Shashank Koirala and Krishna Prasad Sitaula, and party spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat. All are regarded as close allies of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and have been holding regular talks in recent weeks to shape agendas and decide on joint positions.

Earlier in the day, spokesperson Mahat criticized recent remarks by General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma, who had urged the party to undergo major reforms. Mahat said the comments were ill-timed, noting that President Deuba is still recovering from injuries he sustained during a protest attack at his residence on September 9. He described the remarks as “adding salt to the wound” at a moment when the leader remains under medical treatment.

Focus of the Meeting

At Singh’s residence, the leaders discussed the party’s immediate challenges and options for moving forward. Sources said the talks also centered on strategies to safeguard unity within the party and to respond to the wider political uncertainty.
