Nepali Congress Leaders Meet Deuba to Discuss Coalition Future

Senior Nepali Congress leaders gathered at Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence to discuss the coalition government’s path forward, focusing on the seven-point agreement and key constitutional reforms.

Kathmandu, – Senior leaders of the Nepali Congress gathered at party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Tuesday to have a serious discussion about the coalition government and its path forward.

This meeting came after a session on Monday at Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh’s home in Chaksibari, where former party office bearers agreed to share their conclusions directly with Deuba.

The leaders emphasized the importance of following the spirit of the seven-point agreement signed between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML on July 1, 2024 (Ashar 17, 2081 BS). They also stressed the need to prioritize constitutional amendments and other commitments of the coalition.

Those who joined the meeting at Deuba’s residence included Deputy Prime Minister Singh, former Vice Presidents Gopal Man Shrestha and Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, former General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, and party spokesperson Prakash Sharan Mahat.

Former Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi, who had earlier met with the Israeli ambassador, was also expected to join the talks soon after.

This meeting is seen as an effort to strengthen coordination within the Nepali Congress and to build a clear, unified stance on the party’s role in the coalition—especially at a time when political clarity and teamwork are much needed.
