Nepali Congress Renews 72% of Active Memberships: Rasaili

Nepali Congress central member Prakash Rasaili Sanehi has confirmed that 72% of the party’s active memberships have been renewed under Gagan Thapa’s leadership.

Kathmandu — Nepali Congress central member Prakash Rasaili Sanehi has said that the party has renewed 72 percent of its active memberships across the country. Speaking at the Central Working Committee meeting held in Sanepa on Tuesday, Rasaili shared that the ongoing membership renewal drive is progressing well.

According to him, over 600,000 memberships have already been renewed under the supervision of the committee led by General Secretary Gagan Thapa. Rasaili, who also serves on the Active Membership Management Committee, said the renewal process has reached a “satisfactory point,” though a few disputes still remain.

“Only 238 wards have issues left to resolve,” he said, urging district leaders to take responsibility for completing the renewal work. “The central office has issued 36 reminders, but some districts have yet to take enough initiative.”

Rasaili also questioned why senior leaders have not shown stronger involvement in their own districts. He emphasized that membership renewal is a shared duty of all party members, not just the central committee.

His remarks come as the Nepali Congress prepares for its upcoming general convention, where renewed memberships will determine voting rights and leadership representation within the party.
