Kathmandu — The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced the national team for the upcoming T20 International series against the West Indies, set for the second week of Ashoj in the United Arab Emirates. The three-match series, known as the Unity Cup T20 International Series, will be played in Sharjah.
All-rounder Adil Ansari has been recalled to the side. He recently featured in Nepal A’s tour of India and is returning to the senior team after almost three years.
The matches will be played on Ashoj 11, 13 and 14. This will be Nepal’s first bilateral T20I series against a full ICC member nation. The games are also part of the team’s build-up to the T20 World Cup Qualifier in Oman. Once the series concludes, the Nepali squad will travel directly to Oman.
A total of nine teams will compete in the qualifiers, with the top three earning a place at the T20 World Cup. Nepal will qualify for the tournament for the second time in a row and the third time overall if it finishes in the top three.
The squad features captain Rohit Kumar Paudel and vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee, along with Kushal Bhurtel, Lokesh Bam, Kushal Malla, Aasif Sheikh, Adil Ansari, Karan KC, Nandan Yadav, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sandeep Jora, Arif Sheikh, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Gulshan Jha, Sompal Kami and Shahab Alam.
