Nepal Communist Party Leader Sudarshan Si Criticizes Former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun Pasang

Internal disputes in Nepal Communist Party intensify as leader Sudarshan Si openly criticizes former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun ‘Pasang’ over leadership, loyalty, and development concerns.

Kathmandu — Internal factional disputes within the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have intensified as leader Sudarshan Si sharply criticized former Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, also known as ‘Pasang’.

During a Maoist Standing Committee meeting, Sudarshan openly questioned Pasang’s leadership and loyalty. He said, “It is a serious mistake to view Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ and Janardan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’ as equals.” On Facebook, Sudarshan further accused Pasang of consistently aligning with party leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, a loyalty that helped him secure the Vice President position. He suggested Pasang now aims for the presidency.

Sudarshan criticized Pasang for not contributing to local development in his home village despite holding the Vice President office. “While he has not built a road in his village, he has constructed a lavish mansion worth tens of crores in Dahachok, Kathmandu,” Sudarshan alleged.

On Biplav, Sudarshan said, “If Pasang had demonstrated the same loyalty to Prachanda as Biplav, he could have been minister multiple times and built mansions in Kathmandu. However, Biplav has remained true to his ideals and principles.”

Sudarshan dismissed Pasang’s accusations against Biplav as “baseless and unacceptable.” He said, “Comrade Biplav has not abandoned the ideals of the People’s War by engaging in parliamentary politics, making such allegations against him unjustified.”

He also commented on Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma, saying that ‘Prabhakar’ no longer shows the revolutionary spirit he once had during the People’s War. Sudarshan noted extremist tendencies previously associated with Biplav are now emerging within the party, posing challenges to unity.
