Nepal Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari Urges Daily Millet Consumption for Better Health

Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari has called on Nepalis to eat millet every day to promote health and strengthen the body. Speaking at a millet planting event in Bhaktapur, he emphasized millet’s importance alongside staple crops like maize, rice, and wheat.

Bhaktapur, Nepal — On National Millet Day, Agriculture Minister Ramnath Adhikari asked all Nepalese people to include millet in their daily meals. Speaking at a millet planting event in Changunarayan, Bhaktapur, he said eating millet is very good for health.

“Millet is a natural grain that strengthens and keeps our bodies healthy,” Minister Adhikari said. “If everyone eats just one serving of millet a day, people will stay much healthier.”

He also told farmers to promote millet farming because, like maize, rice, and wheat, millet is an important crop. “Today, we saw millet growing well alongside maize here. To increase production, new technology and research are needed,” he added.

The minister also praised Changunarayan Municipality for actively implementing government agricultural policies.

In closing, he encouraged everyone to regularly include millet dishes in their diet. “To stay healthy, we need nutritious food, and millet is a very beneficial grain for our bodies,” he said.
