Chitwan — Landslides along the Narayangadh–Muglin road section at Tuiun Khola have left passengers stranded for two consecutive days. To ease travel disruptions, Nepal Police has introduced a free bus service.
Free Bus Service and Landslide Clearance
Superintendent of Police (SP) Govinda Puri, chief of the Chitwan District Police Office, said two buses from the Shantipur Police School have been deployed since Tuesday. The service is available to passengers reaching the Panch Kilo bridge via the Tanahun route.
“We have started this free service to help those walking on foot due to the landslide reach Bharatpur safely,” SP Puri stated. Passengers arriving at Panch Kilo on foot inform police, who then dispatch buses to transport them. Initially, travelers were picked up directly from the landslide site, but operations have now shifted to the designated collection point.
A landslide that struck last Friday was cleared and traffic briefly resumed. However, another landslide on Tuesday once again blocked the road. Authorities have been working since early morning to remove debris and estimate the road could reopen by Friday.
