Biratnagar — Nepali Communist Party leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha has appealed to all communist groups, including the CPN–UML, to join the ongoing party unification campaign. Addressing a unification message assembly in Biratnagar on Monday, Shrestha said all revolutionary communist forces outside the party should be part of the process.
Shrestha described the gathering as a “resolution assembly,” stressing that the unity drive is not just aimed at electoral success or political power. He said party unification is necessary to safeguard national sovereignty, protect achievements gained through the people’s war and people’s movement, and complete the remaining tasks of the peace process.
He added that the recent “GenZ” unrest reflected the country’s failure to ensure good governance, prosperity, and social justice. Shrestha warned that unless an environment is created for more than three million Nepali youths abroad to work within the country, political leadership cannot justify its relevance. Economic transformation, he said, is essential for building socialism, and leaders and cadres of a unified party must be clear about their responsibilities in achieving this goal.
Shrestha also emphasized the need for transformation within the party itself. He highlighted discipline, procedural integrity, and ideological clarity as key components of organizational reform. Corruption within the party must end, he said, adding that strengthening ties with the public is essential for genuine political success.
He further stated that elections are necessary to protect national interests and lead Nepal toward social and economic progress.
