Maoist Leader Matrika Yadav Calls for New Ideas in Leadership Debate

CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Matrika Yadav has stressed that leadership change requires fresh ideas and detailed plans, not just position shifts, while recognizing Chairman Prachanda’s role in stabilizing Nepal’s politics after the Gen Z movement.

Kathmandu – CPN (Maoist Centre) Deputy General Secretary Matrika Yadav has said that any discussion on leadership change within the party must be backed by fresh ideas and comprehensive plans acceptable to all members.

His remarks come as fellow Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma has urged party chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” to resign. Yadav, however, argued that there is currently no alternative to the incumbent leadership.

“Leadership in a communist party is not transferred the way it happens in capitalist parties. It is not just about replacing one chairperson with another,” Yadav said. “Leadership must be measured on the basis of new ideas, strategic plans, the ability to lead the organization, and a coordinating role during times of crisis.”

Prachanda’s Role and the Youth Agenda

Yadav praised Chairman Prachanda’s role in restoring political balance after the Gen Z uprising. “The chairman played a key role in stabilizing the political environment during a critical time,” he noted.

Despite acknowledging Prachanda’s efforts, Yadav stressed the importance of designing policies that directly respond to the concerns of younger generations. “The party must come up with programs that address the aspirations of youth if it wants to strengthen its future,” he emphasized.

Internal Disputes and Leadership Evaluation

Yadav also downplayed internal disputes, saying such differences can and should be resolved through established procedures and methods. “What matters most is how leaders perform during times of crisis. That ultimately determines their role,” he said.
