Kulman Ghising Supports Gen Z Anti-Corruption Protest in Nepal

Kulman Ghising, founder of the Ujyalo Nepal Campaign, has voiced support for the Gen Z anti-corruption protest in Nepal, criticizing the government’s social media ban and urging opportunities within the country.

Kathmandu — Kulman Ghising, a prominent figure in Nepal’s energy sector and founder of the Ujyalo Nepal Campaign, has voiced support for the anti-corruption protest planned by the “Gen Z” generation on Monday.

Posting on social media, Ghising criticized the government’s move to shut down social media platforms, calling it unconstitutional and harmful to young people’s aspirations. He said such restrictions undermine freedom of expression and affirmed that the Ujyalo Nepal Campaign stands in full solidarity with the Gen Z movement.

Having recently returned from trips to the Gulf, Europe, and the United States, Ghising stressed that Nepal’s path to lasting good governance and prosperity requires more than electricity.

It also needs transparent leadership and job creation within the country. He argued that sending millions of young people abroad will not lead to progress, while building skills and opportunities at home is the central aim of the Ujyalo Nepal Campaign.

At a time when frustration is widespread, Ghising said the campaign seeks to restore confidence that change can happen within Nepal. He added that the Gen Z protest represents not only dissatisfaction but also a message of hope and possibility.
