Kathmandu,– Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has underlined the importance of party unity, calling it a top priority amid what he described as ongoing efforts to sow division.
Addressing a Central Committee meeting that began Monday in Chyasal, Oli said attempts to weaken the party were still underway. “We need to stay united and resist any forces that promote factionalism or internal conflict,” he told party leaders.
Oli also insisted that public confidence in the CPN-UML remains strong — and is, in fact, growing. Quoting Oli, the party’s publicity chief Rajendra Gautam said, “Since 2020, there have been repeated attempts to undermine the UML, but people continue to view it as a credible political alternative.”
He went on to highlight the party’s recent organizational gains, including a 28 percent increase in membership. He described the growth as a clear sign of the UML’s momentum and public appeal. “This level of support makes us even more accountable,” Oli added.
On the party’s internal dynamics, the UML chair maintained that there are no serious rifts among its top leaders. “There may be differences in opinion, which is natural, but our shared goal is the same — a stronger UML and a prosperous Nepal,” he said.
Oli also commented on speculation surrounding the possible return of former President Bidya Devi Bhandari to active politics. “That’s a decision the Central Committee will make,” he noted. Oli and Bhandari had met in Chyasal on Sunday, a meeting that has sparked fresh political discussion.
