Kathmandu,— The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has announced its budget for the upcoming Nepalese fiscal year 2082/83. The budget was officially presented on Sunday during a municipal assembly session held at the National Assembly Hall in the capital.

Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol presented the budget following the introduction of the city’s policies and programs for the year by Mayor Balen Shah. The budget was formulated based on the framework set by those policies.

For the upcoming fiscal year, KMC has proposed a total expenditure of NPR 25.76 billion. Once again, physical infrastructure remains the top priority in the city’s budget allocation. Approximately 51 percent of the total budget—more than half—has been designated for infrastructure development, including roads, drainage systems, bridges, and public facilities.

In addition, the budget also places significant emphasis on the education, health, and social sectors. Around 20 percent of the total funding has been earmarked for initiatives in these areas. The remaining budget has been allocated to other sectors.
