Five Janamat Party Lawmakers Resign, Ending Parliamentary Representation in Nepal

The Janamat Party has lost its parliamentary presence after all five remaining lawmakers resigned collectively from Nepal’s House of Representatives. The decision comes after party chair Dr. CK Raut’s earlier resignation.

Kathmandu — The remaining five federal lawmakers of the Janamat Party have stepped down from their positions. In a joint statement issued on Wednesday, they announced their decision to resign from the House of Representatives with immediate effect.

In their resignation letter, the lawmakers reaffirmed their commitment to the people, writing: “We have always stood with the people, and we will continue to remain by their side in the days ahead.”

Party chair Dr. CK Raut had earlier resigned from his parliamentary seat. With the collective resignation of the remaining five lawmakers, the Janamat Party’s presence in Parliament has formally come to an end.

Those who resigned are Abdul Khan, Anita Devi, Binita Singh Danuwar, Goma Labh Sapkota, and Sonu Murmu.

The statement further said: “Given the current movement and political situation in the country, we believe that only a new republic can provide the way forward. It is with this conviction that we have taken this step.”
