New Delhi — On India’s 79th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the historic Red Fort, paying tribute to soldiers who took part in ‘Operation Sindoor’ and delivering a strong warning to Pakistan.
Modi stated, “Today, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, I salute the brave warriors of Operation Sindoor. Our soldiers have delivered a response to the enemy beyond their imagination. India will no longer tolerate nuclear threats or blackmail.”
Recalling the Pahalgam massacre, the Prime Minister said terrorists had crossed the border and killed innocent civilians based on their religion. “Husbands were killed in front of their wives, fathers in front of their children. This incident has enraged the entire nation, and Operation Sindoor is the expression of that anger,” he said.
Modi emphasized that India will not allow “blood and water to flow together.” On the Indus Waters Treaty, he remarked, “The treaty has been one-sided and unjust from the beginning. India’s share of water will be used to irrigate our own fields, not those of the enemy.”
Highlighting defense and technological self-reliance, Modi stressed the need for indigenous fighter aircraft and the development of a homegrown jet engine. He added that India is advancing the ‘Samudra Manthan’ mission to explore offshore oil and gas reserves.
Speaking on the vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India), he said, “Self-reliance is not only about imports and exports. It is the foundation of our strength and independence. Excessive dependence on others erodes the essence of freedom.”
