Gulmi, — Since last night, heavy rain hasn’t stopped in Gulmi, and it’s caused landslides and floods that have blocked some of the main roads in the district. The Kaligandaki Corridor, Ridi–Tamghas, and Ridi–Wamitaksar roads are all closed right now, making it really hard for people to get around.
Gangabahadur Saru from the district police said big landslides with rocks fell on parts of the Kaligandaki Corridor, especially around the villages of Garagre, Milk, and Kanouta in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality. Because of this, no vehicles can pass through there.
Also, there was a big landslide in Salleri, in Rurukshetra Rural Municipality, which has completely blocked the Ridi–Tamghas road. This is causing a lot of problems for locals who use this road every day. On top of that, flooding and landslides near the Dahare River in Satyawati Rural Municipality and Badarebhir have shut down the Ridi–Wamitaksar road since last night.
The police say no one has been hurt so far. But the nonstop rain is making it tough for rescue teams to clear these roads. Even though crews are ready with equipment, the bad weather is slowing things down.
The water level in the Badigad River is rising fast, and this is worrying officials. The district administration has asked people living near rivers to stay alert and move to safer places if they need to.
The disaster management team has identified over 200 places in Gulmi that are at high risk for floods and landslides. Local authorities and rescue workers are doing their best to handle the situation, but everyone needs to be prepared and careful.
