Gulmi, Nepal — Continuous rainfall for the past three days has disrupted daily life in Gulmi district. Landslides and flooding have blocked three major road sections, bringing all transportation to a standstill.
A massive landslide at Raksa in Kaligandaki Rural Municipality–2 has shut down the Kaligandaki Corridor, according to the District Police Office. Traffic has remained fully halted since last night.
In addition, a landslide at Salleri in Rurukshetra Rural Municipality–3 along the Madan Bhandari Highway, and rising water at Dahrekhola along the Ridi–Wamitaksar road in Satyavati Rural Municipality–6, have blocked routes since this morning. Vehicles traveling toward Parbat, Baglung, Palpa, and Butwal are stuck on the roads.
Relief Efforts and Safety Warning
Police said local municipalities and road construction companies have heavy equipment ready, but nonstop rainfall has made it difficult to clear the debris and reopen traffic.
The District Administration Office has warned of disaster risks from the ongoing rains. Residents living near riverbanks and landslide-prone areas have been urged to stay alert and move to safer places.
