Minister Kharel: Gen-Z Government Committed to Timely Election

Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel said the government, formed from the Gen-Z Movement, is focused on conducting the parliamentary election on schedule. He emphasized cooperation among all political parties and citizens to ensure a fair, peaceful, and credible electoral process.

Kathmandu — Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagdish Kharel has said that holding the upcoming House of Representatives election on time is the main responsibility of the current government.

Speaking during his visit to the central office of the National News Agency (RSS) in Bhadrakali on Wednesday, Kharel said the government is fully committed to organizing the election on March 4 (Falgun 21) with the participation of all political parties and citizens.

He noted that Prime Minister Sushila Karki has already expressed the government’s full commitment to ensuring a fair and timely vote. “This government was born out of the Gen-Z Movement and the trust of the people,” Kharel said. “Now is the time for every political party and citizen to come together to create an environment where the election can take place smoothly.”

The minister urged the media to play a constructive role in the process. “Support from the media, including RSS, will be vital in holding a credible and impartial election,” he added.

Kharel said the government’s priorities go beyond the election itself, including promoting good governance, curbing corruption, investigating losses during the Gen-Z Movement, and advancing relief and reconstruction work after recent natural disasters.

He also shared that the government has been holding regular discussions—both directly and indirectly—with political parties to build a peaceful and inclusive atmosphere for the polls.
