A youth-led group called the Democratic GenZ Forum has been established in Nepal under the leadership of Surendra Bhandari to promote democratic values, civic awareness, and free elections.

Kathmandu — A new youth platform named Democratic GenZ Forum was established on Sunday by a group of young individuals who believe in democracy and its core principles. Surendra Bhandari has been appointed as the forum’s coordinator.

The forum includes members Pujan Chamling Rai, Risha Thapa, Saroj Bista, Bishal Shahi, Kumbharaj Sahakari Deuba, Janak Saud, Laxmi Prasad Paudel, Mahendra Kunwar, Ramesh Nyaupane, Sunita Malla, Satendra Yadav, Binod Upadhyaya, Dinesh Raj Aidi, and Niranjan Rohita, among others.

Focus on Democratic Values

The forum has pledged to stand firm against any attack or conspiracy targeting Nepal’s democratic republic, inclusivity, federalism, press freedom, citizens’ sovereignty, and independent judiciary, which it described as the key pillars of democracy.

According to the forum, its goal is to unite democracy-minded youth on a common platform to promote political awareness and strengthen civic participation. “We aim to bring together all young people who believe in democracy and work collectively to expand democratic consciousness,” said coordinator Bhandari.

Plans for Expansion

The Democratic GenZ Forum plans to extend its organizational structure to provincial and district levels in the coming days. It has also urged the government to ensure a free and credible electoral environment, emphasizing that fair elections are essential to sustaining democracy.
