CPN-UML Assigns Roles Ahead of Second Statute Convention

The CPN-UML has begun high-level preparations for its upcoming second Statute Convention, scheduled from September 5 to 7. Key leaders have been assigned responsibilities across health, logistics, publicity, and volunteer coordination. A total of 2,279 delegates are expected to attend the event.

kathmandu – The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), or CPN-UML, is intensifying preparations for its second Statute Convention, scheduled from September 5 to 7 (Bhadra 20 to 22).

In a central office meeting held  under the leadership of General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, the party delegated various responsibilities to its senior leaders to ensure smooth management of the event.

The Organization Department has been tasked with verifying the exact number of delegates. According to Central Office Chief Bhishma Adhikari, the department will confirm how many delegates from the 10th National Congress held in Chitwan have passed away or left the party since then.

Krishnagopal Shrestha, head of the Health and Population Department, will oversee health-related preparations. Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, head of the Mass Organization Coordination Mechanism, has been assigned to mobilize volunteers. The responsibilities for secretariat operations and catering fall under Office Secretary Adhikari.

Central Committee Member Binod Shrestha will handle transportation and stage management, while Rajendra Gautam, head of the Publicity and Publication Department, will lead communications and outreach.

Central Committee Member Hemraj Rai has been given charge of hospitality, reception, and cultural programs. According to Office Secretary Adhikari, delegates will be responsible for arranging their own accommodations. For those unable to do so, assistance will be provided by the relevant District or Provincial Contact Coordination Committees. This responsibility is led by Lalbabu Pandit.

The upcoming Statute Convention will host 2,279 delegates, according to current estimates.
