Bidya Devi Bhandari Returns to Active Politics: Nepal’s First Female President Announces Comeback

Bidya Devi Bhandari, Nepal’s first female president, has confirmed her return to active politics, ending speculation about her future role and addressing concerns within the CPN-UML party.

Kathmandu – Nepal’s first female president, Bidya Devi Bhandari, has announced that she’s back in active politics. During a brief chat with journalists at her home in Budhanilkantha on Tuesday, she made it clear she has no plans to step away from the political arena.

“I have officially returned to politics. This is my final decision,” she said, according to a source close to her.

Bhandari also addressed concerns within the CPN-UML party about her recent political involvement. She expressed her disappointment over attempts to intimidate party workers. “There’s an unnecessary atmosphere of fear being spread among party members. That’s not acceptable,” the source shared.

Her return became a hot topic at the CPN-UML’s recent central committee meeting. While some leaders believe a former president shouldn’t be so politically active, others see her experience and leadership as a real strength for the party.
