Purna Bahadur Khadka Urges Unity Within Nepali Congress

Purna Bahadur Khadka has emphasized party unity, stating that the Nepali Congress will incorporate the special convention proposal within its regular general convention framework.

Kathmandu — Acting President of the Nepali Congress Purna Bahadur Khadka has indicated that the party will move ahead through broader internal unity by incorporating the proposal for a special general convention within the framework of the regular general convention.

Speaking at the Nepal Tarun Dal Establishment Day program held on Sunday at the party’s central office in Sanepa, Khadka said the party’s priority is institutional harmony rather than division.
“Our goal is not to divide but to build a shared vision and institutional unity,” he said. “The proposal for a special convention will be integrated within the boundaries of the regular convention, and we will move forward collectively.”

Special Convention Debate and Khadka’s Clarification

Out of 4,743 representatives who took part in the Nepali Congress’s 14th General Convention in 2021, 2,488 members submitted signatures to Acting President Khadka on October 15, demanding a special general convention, sparking internal debate within the party.

Khadka described the demand as a reform-oriented initiative, not a divisive act, and said it would be addressed through the regular convention process.
He added that all sides now agree to complete the 15th General Convention by mid-December.

Unity, Roadmap, and Organizational Strengthening

Khadka stated that the ongoing Central Working Committee meeting is holding open and detailed discussions on all key issues. “All leaders have been expressing their views frankly,” he said. “We are uniting different perspectives into a single framework and will eventually reach a collective conclusion.”

He emphasized the need to resolve the country’s political situation through a solution-oriented approach, focusing on national unity and constitutional protection.

Khadka said the Central Working Committee will announce a special program and clear roadmap for upcoming elections and organizational strengthening. “We are not here to promote division but to move ahead with a common purpose,” he said. “This is the right time to make the Nepali Congress institutionally stronger.”
