Kathmandu — Internal conflict within the All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) has intensified. On Saturday, members of the student organization staged a protest against Chair Dr. Sujan Kaderia, removing his office nameplate and setting it on fire. They also vandalized his photograph.
Following the Gen-Z protests on September 8 (Bhadra 23), where police gunfire left several students seriously injured, Kaderia announced his resignation the next day. He said his “moral responsibility did not allow him to remain in office.”
However, just a day later, he attempted to withdraw the resignation, claiming he had received death threats and had been physically assaulted. His resignation has not yet been officially approved.
Many within the organization, however, have opposed his attempt to return. Critics argue that “a leader who abandoned the post in the name of insecurity cannot resume leadership.”
Dissatisfaction with Kaderia’s leadership has now turned into a strong demand from party members that he should not be allowed to reenter the ANNFSU office.
